In English, when you catch something you use 'a' (a train, a cold, a ball). In Italian you don't translate it using 'a' ('un', 'una') but 'the' ('il' or 'la'):

  • prendere il treno (to catch a train)
  • prendere il raffreddore (to catch a cold)
  • prendere la palla (to catch a ball)
