The opposite of Ramadan

A pizza in the shape of a half moon

For years I have been eating mainly after the sun went down. There is a feeling of peace and relief, an atmosphere of anything is possible, with no consequences, to be had when everybody else has gone to bed. I relax. Therefore I eat.

As I draw some partial conclusions after seven days of reversing the trend and deciding to give up eating between 11pm and 7am for Lent, I find it exhilarating to discover that forty years into this life, some habits that I thought were so rooted in myself can still be discarded as complete and utter rubbish.

It has only been a week and I know it takes several more for a conscious new action to become an unconscious habit, but I am enjoying this very much and it is a good sign. I will definitely try and keep it up until the end of Lent. Will my good resolution last after Easter?

And, more importantly, will I be able to accommodate exceptions to the rule and not feel that I have broken it completely so I may as well feast on half an ox until dawn?
