A picture is worth a pair of boots

A woman crossing legs with knee-high bootsA while back I signed up for some beta testing of Riya, is an application that tags your pictures automatically after you have taught it the names of people and landmarks who appear frequently in your snaps.

In the end I never did get round to do the testing because it implied some active participation on my part before it could work. Like, me, do something? Yeah, right.

It was all over the news today that Riya launched Like.com, a visual image search engine. Given that I've been after some very specific boots with no luck whatsoever, online or offline (light tan, sort of cowboy but not pointy- or square-toed, nor biker's with straps - oh, and a bit of a heel too), I gave Like.com a try.

Less than a single minute later, after clicking on a few pics and highliting toe and heel as key features, I found out that what I want is a pair of Double H Retro 11 Inch Banana Boots - where 11 Inch is the height of the whole boot, not the heel, and Banana refers to the colour and sadly not the shape.

I have not tracked down a single UK retailer so far, so I'm back at square one, but I am very impressed.
