All I do is eat and sleep and code
Exactly as I'd expected it, I spent most of the weekend sleeping.
We arrived at Dr B.'s parents' on Friday at around 9pm, and I fell asleep on the couch while watching their holiday videos. I stirred around a couple of times because I feared I'd inadvertently let out a fart, maybe I did, maybe I didn't; nobody commented on it. I eventually woke up and went to bed trying to hide a stiffy. Way to go to impress the in-laws.
I spent the whole day Saturday hunched on my laptop, determined to have the upper hand on the redesign for Bitful I had decided I'd get finished by Monday. I only stopped for dinner - the largest fish and chips I've ever seen. A chunky piece of cod that most likely wrestled its way out of the net a few times before finally surrendering, and chips the size of small logs. Pudding was an inappropriately healthy Weight Watchers Double Chocolate Toffee Dessert, proudly introduced to us by Dr B.'s mother to the sound of 'I don't know how they do it - this has only three points and very little fat'. I looked at the greasy wrapping paper from the fish and chips, wondered how many millions Weight Watchers point that had, and ungracefully collapsed fully dressed on the bed shortly afterwards.
On Sunday we went for a pub lunch locally - only the pub had been refurbished and upgraded, and we were welcomed to the Staffordshire equivalent of a maitre d', asking us if we were aware that it was now a fine dining restaurant? With an inviting three-course set menu on Sunday lunch? As well as an extensive à la carte menu? (And, may I add, the most uncomfortable chairs this side of the river Trent?) The food was good, but my poor body was not used to having so many rich meals in a row, and once we got back and were killing time waiting for the time to catch the train back to London… I fell asleep.
So I think it's bye for now. I am going to find a snug little corner with broadband to spend the winter in. Lock the door on your way out and come and wake me up next March, will you please?
