So what's new around here?
A few changes on Bitful (invisible if you access it via a feed aggregator):
- Liquid three-column design that stretches to fill your browser window
- Links from del.icio.us now separate from other posts
- Searchbox
- Comments RSS feed
- A bit of orange to complement the pink
- Gradients! Mirroring font! A badge! Can you tell I had a lot of fun apeing all this Web 2.0 silliness? Please rest assured, it's still the same old uninteresting natter.
A change that an untrained eye should not notice is that Bitful is now powered by WordPress, which weaves seamlessly with my own PHP code and database scripts. This also means that all the pages are brought together on the fly, a little more of a load for my server which I am sure it will cope with very easily, due to the minuscule size of my readership.
There is still a lot to tidy up, but (very uncharacteristically for me) I decided to go live with it before everything is absolutely pixel perfect. The code is very untidy, a few bits are askew, but on the whole everything should work.
As you can tell, I spent the whole weekend preparing for my job interview today…

The 3 column affair does not become apparent until I click on the barely visible Comments link (the text is jumbled & overlaid).
It then becomes clear! (Same effect in Firefox 2.0RC1 and IE7)

I'm so sorry to hear that. As I said, there's still an awful lot of testing and cleaning up left to do.
I have checked the design in Firefox 1.5.0.7 and IE 6.0 and it looks OK. I also used an online simulator to check how it renders in Safari/Mac and again, it is mostly alright.
I would be interested in finding out more. If anyone can send screen captures to info@bitful.com, along with what user agent the design does not display properly in, I'd be very grateful.

Looks gorgeous from here, I must say. Really really nice design.

I have now tested the new design on both Firefox 2.0 Release Candidate 1 and IE7, and it looks perfectly OK.
I suppose 'A reader' from comment #1 encountered a problem because his browsers initially loaded a cached old stylesheet, and by clicking on 'Comments' the new one was forced through.

About f*cking time!!!
If only people knew how long pink&orange bitful has been lurking on the 'hidden-pages'.

True, the design had been ready for a while, but I was waiting for a whole free weekend to swith over to the WordPress CMS and implement it there.

Thanks, looks great now. Very 2.0! Glad to see u stayed true to the genre and have set it free as a Beta before polishing up those shiny little pixels.
PS from #1, forgot to say - Flock 0.7.6 rendered jumbled columns (Hence -'Same effect in Firefox 2.0RC1 and IE7') but all ok now. Dunno what was going on there…..
