'cause you are BRITful, no matter what they say
I have just submitted bitful to be reviewed and possibly added to BritBlog.
BritBlog describes itself as 'a blog directory solely for British bloggers from all over the world. You don't need to live within the British Isles to get listed: you just need to be British!'
With these premises, I will not be surprised if bitful is rejected on grounds of me being Italian. However, I will be shattered: there is nothing I feel more validating than being fully accepted in the country that adopted me. Conversely, nothing enrages me more than feeling excluded.
Which reminds me, as a EU national I am still not eligible to vote in the next general election, and I am seething with the frustration of not having a say in matters that will affect my life over the next few years.
There you go: I have just found another reason to apply for UK citizenship once I become eligible. This is not a joke: the naturalisation forms are already in a folder at home and I am simply waiting to complete five uninterrupted years living in this country (May 2007) to submit my application.
UPDATE: just in – this very tense reply from the BritBlog people: 'We are sorry to tell you that your application to join BritBlog was not
successful. Perhaps you have not fully understood our submission policies [...]'
As much as it hurts, I am not surprised in the least; after all, I'd read the policy and I am not British. Yet.
