lent
So it's Ash Wednesday and for the first time I have decided to follow the great British tradition of giving up something for lent. Funny how I never heard of it when I was living in France and in Italy. Or perhaps I was mingling with particularly heathen circles.
The most obvious choice was to give up bread, my binge food par excellence, the trigger to my midnight feasts.
And when I say bread I mean "anything that's cheap and filling and carbohydrate-based and that you can fold around a slice of cheese (or twelve)".
So that includes tortillas, pancakes and crispbread but excludes rice, quiches and pizzas.
Hmm, having my doubts now. Ask me again at lunchtime tomorrow when I sink my teeth into that special-offer-I-found-in-Metro-yesterday one-pound BLT from Upper Crust.

That reminds me - I came home from Brighton Pride with some of your bread in my bag! I hope you didn't want it back because (a) it would have been blue by now and (b) I ate it!
