I had not set foot in a movie theatre since last summer, and now I have been twice in the last four days. Mini-reviews:
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (see below): the books get more intriguing mature as Harry character grows up. Unfortunately, the movies steer towards the superficial and fail to capture the developing streak of darkness.
- Shrek 2: crying with laughter. Technically impressive. Great soundtrack. Will never look at a cat the same way again.
I shall try and make the most of Dr B. being in London on a course all week (as opposed to working away and only coming back on Wednesday nights and weekends), and go with him to see Thunderbirds and Spider-Man 2 too.
Now, can you spot a trend in his movie genres preferences? He could not put it better in a recent e-mail when I suggested going to see "the Almodóvar":"What's <<the Almodóvar>> ?
Has it got lasers in it? Or magic?
Or better still, lasers and magic?
Or vampires?"
By his own admission, the man does not do subtitles.
