This interesting article on film-strip rollovers happens to mention Apple's HyperCard - the single application that provided me with months of pixel-perfect smut in the early nineties.
I used to make my own gay porn, you see. I would start by
drawing copying outlines of men's bodies from magazines onto white paper, then draw the details, place a grid on the paper and reproduce each square, pixel by pixel, in HyperCard.
I would then design sets of clothes and program black and white animated strip shows.
Before you dismiss me as a sad freak, please bear in mind that as a postgraduate student in Nottingham I could not afford proper porn. The reference to Nottingham does not imply that porn is particularly expensive there, it purely stands to signify that small town blues drove me to prehistoric computer sleaze.
I'd love to get my hands on those sticky old HyperCard files. My then boyfriend's Mac (a present from his grandmother - if only she knew what it was used for) unfortunately crashed on the floor falling from table height, and never recovered.
