I am not one who shies away from unconventional dress sense, be it half a foot roll-ups on my calf-length jeans or pinstripe trousers tucked into 80's legwarmers, paired up with a golf cap (it seemed like a good idea at the time), but seriously, UGG boots? I'll admit they look stunning on Kate Moss' feet, with nothing but a skimpy miniskirt belt at the end of slender St Tropez-ed legs. Not on the average British podgy bluish-white leg though.
It's a different story today: yesterday's snow has turned into a sheet of ice overnight, and I saw quite a few of these unflattering boots on the short walk to the tube station, their owners widely grinning because a) they finally got to wear that impulse purchase, b) their feet were warmer than everybody else's and c) walking on ice is a fantastic exercise to tone up inner thigh muscles, more effective than
Jane Fonda's "1-2-3-scissor scissor scissor".
Me? Happy as a tick on a dog's back: roller-skating my way through the Seventies finally paid back. Evidence
here. Before you ask, I'm the one wearing the trousers, but oh how I longed to try on the baker's daughter's dress and give those fringes a twirl!
