With three times more sand than last year (three tons), the Paris beach is something I'd love to see. Being fair-skinned with moles (burn baby burn) and easily bored by beach-bumming, I quite like the idea of a beach right smack in the center of town that I could go to for short periods of time whenever I want to.
Other cities (Toulouse in the south west of France, Budapest and Berlin) have been inspired to do the same, but I doubt that there is any chance of a sandy stretch alongside the Thames, for two essential elements are missing: a long thoroughfare alongside the river to be shut down for a month, and an empty city during the same period because everyone goes on holiday at the same time. We seem to have the weather for it though. update: Spoke too soon. It seems that the British summer (all 48 hours of it) is already over.
