pops
Dr B. has got a surprise in store for me. All I've been told is a place and time where I should be tonight, having already eaten and being slightly dressed-up (no vest, shorts and flip flops then).
Dying with curiosity. Will tell all - if it turns out to be something that can be shared. update: And what a fantastic surprise it turned out to be. I ended up going to see a fringe production of Ben Elton's Popcorn. Dr B. was not sure if I remembered that our friend S. was in it, so an additional surprise would have been seeing him appear on stage. I had already seen the play in Paris a few years ago, in a rather good French adaptation and in a big posh theatre. This time it was in English (with plausible albeit sometimes distracting American accents) and in such a tiny space that we felt as if we were sitting in the living room where the play takes place. In a way, the story worked even better, by cramming the action centre stage with the audience all around there really was no way out, neither for the actors nor for the audience.
