I had my best friend from Italy over for the weekend, and I could finally take her to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern after so many months raving about it via e-mail.

I especially wanted her to see the D.E. Experience show, and unsurprisingly she enjoyed it (she's my best friend, she obviously shares my sense of humour), even if some of it was quite obscure to her (gay and British cultural references). I think she also enjoyed being somewhere completely different for her, as she's never been into clubbing at all, and I think it was the first time she was surrounded by hundreds of shirtless men.

She also very unsurprisingly swooned over J. (one of the few men with hair in there, on his way to becoming a Vauxhall Tavern regular), sang along and danced, then left sometime after the show.

I stayed on, danced with Dr Bitful and his friends on the other side of the dancefloor, lost Ian, found Steve and was shown the way by Dave (thanks mate!).

Towards the end of the evening I was given two VIP passes for Chemistry at Crash, so Dr Bitful and I decided to check it out, after a quick stopover at Dukes to say hallo to Marcus and David (read: three minutes and forty-five seconds of us bouncing off the walls desperately trying - and miserably failing - to have some sort of coherent conversation with them).

Chemistry, then. Quite appropriately namEd, this "vauxhall gay village's new post-chillout pre-orange sunday nighter" (or so the flyer says) is only into the second week since its opening, and obviously caters for a post-RVT crowd. It feels more intimate than Crash usually is (only the first room is open and it takes a while before it fills up) and sounds like a good option indeed to keep up the beats before crossing the Vauxhall junction to go to Orange.

I might indeed try Orange one of these days, I've always wondered what kind of crowd goes clubbing on a Monday morning from 5am to noon.
